Firstly work one round of dc (USA - sc) around all items to be joined then:

Holding wrong sides of both pieces together, working through  back  loops only:

Using no yarn, insert hook into 1st dc of 1st item, then insert hook into

1st dc of 2nd item, and draw this loop through the loop already on hook, now

insert hook into 2nd dc of 1st item, and draw this loop through the loop

already on hook, now insert hook into 2nd dc of 2nd item, and draw this loop

through the loop already on hook, now insert hook into 3rd dc of 1st item,

and draw this loop through the loop already on hook, now insert hook into

3rd dc of 2nd item, and draw this loop through the loop already on hook, and

continue in this manner until join completed - the end loop will then either

need to be caught in with the border row, or a thread attached to anchor it.
